Christ Jesus our Lord is . . .
The Good Shepherd of the Flock of God. He leads, feeds, and guards His sheep.
John 10:14, 16 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Christ has bought us with His own blood and has placed His own mark of ownership on us as the flock which is His church. In addition, He has left a Pastor, or undershepherd, to assist in directing the affairs of the sheep of His pasture. The Lord Jesus has cared for the needs of His own and has made every provision to care for the continuing needs of those within the confines of the church.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Our Savior sustains each one of us as His sheep through the preparation of spiritual food for development in following Him wholeheartedly. Feeding on the Word for ourselves and being fed the Word in His church ensures strength in the knowledge of Christ and His paths of righteousness.
Hebrews 5:12–14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
You are always under His watchful eye! Hebrews 13:5-6; 20-21
