“Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus.” Romans 15:5
There’s a children’s song that goes like this:
“Chorus: He’s still working on me, to make me what I ought to
be. It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars, the sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars. How loving and patient He must be, He’s still working on me.
Verse 1: There really ought to be a sign upon my heart, don’t judge me yet, there’s an unfinished part. But I’ll be perfect, just according to His plan, fashioned by the Master’s loving hand.
Verse 2: In the mirror of His Word, the reflections that I see, makes me wonder why He never gave up on me. But He loves me as I am, and helps me when I pray. Remember He’s the Potter, I’m the clay!”
I am so thankful that God loves me enough not to leave me as I am (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). I am accepted in the beloved, and being sanctified by His Spirit (Ephesians 1:6). It is so good to know that the purpose of God to produce in me the likeness of His Son is being performed from one degree of glory to the next by the ever-present Holy Spirit that dwells within me (2 Corinthians 3:18). God has promised to continue the work of conforming me to the image of His dear Son until completion which will come at the day of redemption (Philippians 1:6). So it is incumbent upon me to sow to the Spirit without grieving Him or quenching Him as He seeks to work in me to produce Christlike fruit (Galatians 6:8; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Galatians 5:22-23). I have been blessed beyond measure with a God that is so very patient and kind to love me with a love that will not let me go!
